Thai Railways has just released its beautiful and glossy rail book which contains the routes and timetable. It was released on 23rd September 2016, so new that I could be the first 100 visitors. Having seen how informative and attractive the book was, my expectation was high.
With my 22baht ticket I was herded to the last 2 commuter coaches with alongside benches. I did not expect that I would be reincarnated to my Kuala Kangsar – Kluang Federated Malay States train days.
This was pedestrians so non elitist Thais.Peasantry travel at its best, the best way to mingle and be in touch with the people. 99% Of the passengers were Malays.
It took a good 2hrs 45 minutes. It was bearable. By the time I reached Sg Golok I was like a chimney boy.
I took the motorbike for 80baht to the taxi stand. The taxi to Pengkalan Chepa was Rm70.
The firefly ticket cost me a bomb.
